May 14 is Prairie Appreciation Day and you’re invited to take a self-guided tour of the Glacial Heritage Preserve in Thurston County on May 11, 2024.
Activities for the event as described by the organizers are:
Take a self-guided tour Thurston County’s Glacial Heritage Preserve
Learn about the prairie ecosystem, why it’s important, and what’s being done to preserve it on the interpretive trail.
While you’re enjoying the prairie
Join the Prairie Appreciation Days iNaturalist Project
Gates open at 10:00 and close for new visitors at 2:00, with activities continuing until 3:00.
The organizers also suggest that you can visit the Mima Mounds Natural Area for an easier outing or the Scatter Creek Natural Area if you wish to bring your dogs. A Discover Pass is required for all locations.
