Hello,

Thanks for joining this group.

This is a public group for general photography discussion. If you want to start discussing a different topic, short of introductions, you can start a new group (or if you want to confine things to a very specific discussion, you can also start a new group).

This is open to all members, but we use this group to sometimes post new photography-centric posts so it can be used as a way to subscribe to new  posts on such topics — keeping in mind, of course, that you’ll also get other activity from group members. Most of our groups are member-moderated. That means we do require login but that posts may go live before we’ve had a chance to review them and that member can use the front-end reporting tools to flag something against the group rules. You can also use the “subscribe” button near the group header to subscribe to browser notifications of new group posts and forum topics. That’s available web-only, not iOS.

And here they are:

• Photography topics, please.
• No hate speech. Let’s keep it pleasant.
• No spamming with commercial links. We realize that photographers tend to be gear heads and discussion of gear, software, etc. is perfectly acceptable…but don’t (for instance) post constant affiliate links to Topaz. You get the idea.
• Keep photos posted to be “safe for work.”
• If you post photos, it must be your own work. If it isn’t you need to give credit and tell why you’re using another photo (unless it’s just a giphy…you know what we mean).
• Photo critiques: If you want to post a photo and want it critiqued, please ask when you post the photo and say:
  • What type of critique you would like. That is, now nice you’d like the critique to be:
    • keep it nice
    • honest but respectful
    • let me have it no-holds barred
  • …and if your are the criticize and are asked for no-holds-barred criticism please STILL keep it respectful, though brutally honest!
