The 83rd World Science Fiction Convention is coming to Seattle in 2025. I love the retro-futuristic style of their website. The last WorldCon here was in 1961, just as the Century 21 Expo was being built along with its futuristic Space Needle.
They feature this video on their website, and I just love it so I’m posting it here, though it really doesn’t have to do with WorldCon per se:
I am adding this as a literary event as well as a convention as this is where the Hugo Awards are delivered. So as far as science fiction conventions go, this is a big deal.
It’s the annual convention of the World Science Fiction Society and has been going on since 1939, except for a hiatus during WWII.
You’ll find a number of speakers and panelists and an art show, a dealer’s room, exhibits, fan and community tables and more.
At the time of this listing, plans are still underway and additional events and panelists will be added. So far, the Guests of Honor are author Martha Wells, artist Donato Giancola, scientist Bridget Landry, and minstrel Alexander James Adams.
You need to purchase a WSFS membership to attend; the price quoted here is for a membership with attendance supplement all days of the convention for an adult. There are discounts for youth or virtual attendees.
