Event Description
The Northwest Trek Pumpkin Chomp and Stomp runs 9:30-3:00 on each day of the event. Cost is regular admission price to the park.
Note that the featured photo here is from the Northwest Trek website as I wanted a photo of an animal WITH A PUMPKIN!
The pumpkin chomp and stomp is an annual event at Northwest Trek where they have pumpkin carving events and (apparently) give pumpkins to the animals.
This seems to be a good photo op. However, I decided to get there early on the first day of the event in 2022, and found that only ONE animal (a skunk) actually had a pumpkin and it was no way interested in getting anywhere near that pumpkin. And few staff that I asked seemed to know much about the event. I met a few other confused looking individuals also asking the question, “where are the pumpkins?”
Here’s a photo of a cute otter I took there…sans pumpkin.
It turns out that they release the pumpkins at some unspecified point in the afternoon…perhaps, I was told by one worker there, at feeding time.
So if your desire is to see animals with pumpkins at this pumpkin chomping event, I would recommend that you ask in advance at which time they will actually be giving the pumpkins out.
