Budding wizards (or muggle Harry Potter fans) probably already know about this London gallery. But if not, read on. MinaLima designed all the graphics for the Wizarding World of JK Rowling films. The gallery is an amazing collection of art, and Harry Potter ephemera.

The House of MinaLima Harry Potter gallery in London is a magical experience if you’re into J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world. It displays art and ephemera from the team that created much of the look of the look of things like paper goods in the Harry Potter films. (And you can find a bunch of wonderful MinaLima edition books of other classics on Amazon).

I just “happened” upon it as I decided to stroll randomly around London in 2018 and wrote this short post just a bit after that.

Have you been there? What was your favorite thing to see?

I had heard of the House of MinaLima, but it was serendipity that I happened to stumble upon this gallery in London’s Soho area (much to the envy of my Harry Potter fan daughter–I’m expecting a howler) I had made no plans to go to the House of MinaLima during my visit to London, but I’m glad I did.

If you don’t know who MinaLima are, you know their work if you’ve been at all exposed to the Wizarding World films of J.K. Rowling.

You know MinaLima from the packaging of Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes products, from the wanted posters warning of Sirius Black, from the pages of the Quibbler. Even the letter from Hogwarts was designed by the team of  Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima who have been working on creating the look of the Wizarding World since 2002.

The House of MinaLima, however, is not one more Harry Potter shop, but an art gallery. You won’t find the usual assortment of commercial Harry Potter goods (though many of the HP shops feature plenty of products designed by MinaLima.)

Here are some things you will find: original signed art, a Marauder’s Map floor, and paper props — including wizard playing cards, product labels, and books.

One of my favorite things in the House of MinaLima was the staircase, solemnly swearing that it’s up to no good.

Hmmm…my staircase is in for a revamp!

Where is the House of MinaLima ?

(Hint: You don’t have to solemnly swear anything to reveal the location!)
