Looking for Seattle Summer events, Seattle Summer festivals and nearby summer events worth attending? Here’s our big list of things to do this Summer. We’re busy updating event dates for 2020. Most here are already updated, but you’ll find some stragglers that still link to their 2019 event. When we know the date, we’ll update them! Additionally, we’ll be adding new events as Summer approaches. Are you looking for Seafair events? You’ll find them here, but there’s also a post for that!

Summer, Summer, Seattle Summer events!
Summers are beautiful in the Puget Sound area! The grey finally goes away, the sky clears and it’s time to get outside. Summer events in Seattle (and Puget Sound area festivals) range from the zany to the family-oriented…there are too many to do them all, or even to list them all.
This is a guide to many of the major Puget Sound Summer Festivals and Summer events in Seattle (including some events in the Olympic Peninsula as well, but well-worth the drive to attend.) You can use the links below to jump to the area you want or go to the bottom of the post for a chronogical list of even more events.

Have a fun Summer!
You can’t write something about Summer events in and near Seattle without mentioning Seafair. Seattle’s Summer festival has been going on since 1950 and includes tons of various types of events from community festivals to fireworks to the torchlight run.
However, for this post, events are being organized by type — you’ll find parades in one category, fireworks in another. But if you just want Seafair events, you can click here to view our post that only includes this Summer’s upcoming Seafair events.
The Seattle area has MANY parades during the Summer months from the funky Fremont Solstice Parade to the huge Torchlight parade to tons of smaller community parades.
A summer community Seafair event, this is a family-friendly parade in the Wallingford neighborhood.
I’m a former (but always at heart) Greenwood Girl and we don’t mind going to our parade on a Wednesday night! This may be one of the oldest Seafair parades in Seattle.
Celebrate Asian culture in the International District with Lion and Dragon dances, martial arts, drumming, and more.
OK, this one’s in Enumclaw — but worth a drive. Don your tartan, lads, and eat some haggis.
Independence Day Events:
Fireworks! But also so much more to do at most of these events if you arrive early. Getting there early is also recommended to get a spot, especially at the larger shows. Most are on July 4 but, be careful, there are a few communities who hold their festivities on the 3rd. Below are eight options for
3rd 4th of July festivities and fireworks near Seattle and in the Puget Sound area. However, we might list even more here and will likely create a separate post about PNW firework displays.

Races and Rides
These are but a few of the sporting-type events you can find in the Puget Sound area every Summer. Summer abounds with opportunities for boating, triathlons and other sporting competitions.
The Capital One Torchlight Run Presented by Swedish (wow, names get longer the more sponsors you add on) runs through downtown Seattle. Traffic is already blocked off due to the parade. There’s a 5K and 8K run.
I love outdoor Shakespeare so much I wrote a post about the area festivals that I keep updated. The Seattle Outdoor Theater festival condenses many of the local theater companies into one weekend. Pack a picnic, sit on the lawn at Volunteer park and be with the Bard.
Community Festivals and Celebrations
To The Fair!
To be fair, we only listed a couple of fairs here while we wrote this post. Late August into September are packed with various county fairs. If we list them on our calendar, they’ll appear in the event list below, arranged by date.
And Some Other Events You Might Want to Consider:
These were in our post previously and we don’t want to remove them…but we’re not sure which category to put them in!
The Big List of Seattle Summer Events
And not only Seattle Summer events! While this post is focused mostly on the Puget Sound area, there are many events in the Olympic Peninsula and other nearby areas we thing merit a short trip to attend. As Summer approches, expect more events here, and then event to disappear after Summer winds down.
For 2020 the plan was to shift the pride parade to virtual events that weekend. At this point, we're not sure what they are and suggest checking the event website for details.
