Poulsbohemian Coffeehouse

The Poulsbohemian Coffeehouse is a favorite go-to place for coffee in Poulsbo. While you can grab a to-go cup, I'd recommend, if it's not too busy, getting your coffee in a ceramic cup and staying.

My favorite spot (don't take it) is the comfy chair at the back where I used to plant myself on a quiet morning to work on some writing tasks while being able to gaze out at Liberty Bay.

You'll also find some outdoor chairs and tables in front -- great if you're there with your dog -- and a couple of Adirondack-style chairs at the side of the building where you can sit and gaze out at the bay if weather permits.

Like most coffee shops, the Poulsbohemian Coffeehouse features varying artwork by local artists on its walls. And, like most coffee houses, wi-fi is available so you can grab a table and work on your tasks, if you want. But, of course, it's also great place to sit and chat, or sit and be quiet if that's your style (like me).

The Poulsbohemian Coffee House opened in 1993 and is owned by Marianna Mears according to this 1997 Kitsap Sun article.

Prior to the pandemic, they used to have many "armchair poetry" readings but, unfortunately, those haven't resumed since at the time of this writing.

Poulsbohemian Coffeehouse Hours

At the time we're writing this, the Poulsbohemian Coffeehouse is open 8-4 Tuesday-Sunday and is closed on Mondays.

Chimacum Cafe

A bit out of the way (or a lot depending on where you live), but worth it for the pie.

Chimacum Cafe is a diner. We like to sit at the counter, have a coffee, and eat the Wildberry pie (me, during the Summer) or Toll House Pie (my daughter).

But all are good!

*NOTE: Last time we visited in July 2023, there was a for sale sign on the cafe, but at this point (Nov 2023) they still seem to be open for business. Hopefully the cafe will keep going and keep its tradition of pies!

Mama's Armenian Kitchen

Mama's Armenian Kitchen Poulsbo is only open on Saturdays -- from 7AM - 2PM at the time we're listing this. Get there early -- you'll usually find a wait. On sunny Summer days, I've sometimes seen the wait going down the stairs onto the sidewalk. But the wait is worth it! I've not sampled everything there - they served baked goods both sweet and savory -- I can attest that that pear galette and baklava are wonderful -- but the potato hand pie seemed to be very popular and the cinnamon rolls were already sold out by 7:30AM. Also try the turkish coffee -- you'll need to wait a bit for it, but worth it if you're a coffee afficianado!

The bakery is located upstairs from Cafe Cocina -- you'll find the stairs around the corner.

Pie Bar Ballard

As the name might imply, this is a 21+ establishment. And they have both pie and pie-themed drinks!

Pie Pick: The Ballard Bumble Berry Crumble and the same drink by that name.

Dahlia Bakery

The dahlia bakery has more than just baked goods, but is famous for its coconut cream pies. If you don't like that, get one of the other many treats.

When we visited, seating was outdoor-only and minimal, with a focus on takeout.
