These are the terms and conditions for submitting off-topic content to this website. You can submit such posts here or on the FAQ page.

What can I submit in the photography section of the website?

The photography section of the website is for articles about photography which might include topics such as:

  • Photography tips, tricks, or project ideas.
  • Reviews of photography gear.
  • Articles about certain genres of photography: wildlife photography, mindful photography, etc.
  • Reviews of photography books — though we might ALSO post them in our book section with one of the posts being the canonical placement. If you are submitting a photography book review, please consider using the form to submit book reviews as it includes things like ISBN, etc.
  • Thoughts and opinions on the art and craft of photography.

The photography section is not for:

  • Galleries (though a photography post could include a small gallery illustrative of the topic of the article)
  • Promoting your photography business (unless it’s a sponsored post).

Terms for submitting photography articles:

Photography articles are subject to most of the same terms as main posts, but with a few differences.

  • We have the right to decline any post for any reason. Generally, when we notify you of our decision not to publish a post, it’s via an automated response which does not give a reason. Most often the reason that we reject an off-topic post is the writing, or the subject. While we will consider posting a range of subject matter, we shy away from subjects that are potentially inflammatory.
  • Unless the post is sponsored and we’ve come to an agreement or unless you are in the partner program end eligible for potential post payment, we will not pay you for posts and we will not receive payment.
  • We have the right to remove content at any time. You can request to have your posts removed but the final decision will be up to us. We often do a lot of work on editing a post pre-publication and don’t like to remove content once it’s posted. We will not remove posts that have had funds paid out in the partner program and will not pay out any funds if you request to have your post removed before it has generated enough funds for payment.
  • It is up to us whether we “nofollow” or “dofollow” links. If it’s a sponsored post, we will always mark sponsored links with a rel=”sponsored” tag and disclose that the post is sponsored. If you add affiliate links to your guest post, we’ll also add that tag if it doesn’t already exist for those links. We reserve the right to change the link tags for (unpaid) guest posts if we suspect that dofollowing links is causing SEO issues.
  • You may be able to add your own affiliate links to your post if it does not break the terms of those affiliate agreements. Such links will be marked as sponsored. You can only add affiliate links if your post provides value in some other way. For instance, you’re writing an awesome review of your favorite bike bags (Hey! But we’re going to do this!) that could truly help someone make a decision. And you don’t work for the bike bag company. You might add some affiliate links linking to the bike bags that you mention, and we might accept this. It’s a post-to-post decision. If your post is in the partner program, we will replace any affiliate links that we can in your post with our own links and then revenue share with you as explained in the partner terms.
  • Unless it is a sponsored post, ads will be shown alongside your post. We use contextual advertising and do not have granular control over which ads appear on our site.
  • Visitors will be able to comment on your post and leave ratings. We appreciate it if you respond to people who leave comments on your post.
  • We may or may not post photography posts to social media. It depends on the topic and images, in general and we’ll decide on a case-by-case basis. You are always welcome to share your post to your own channels!
