We installed push notifications and a PWA (progressive web app) to send new content notifications to those who wanted them — and more because it lets users get notifications on activity posts in case forums and member areas start to grow on this website.
However, to get browser notifications in iOS, one must install a progressive web app. To do so, click the sharing icon and click “Add to home screen.” You’ll see a button on this page below if you haven’t subscribed.
Why would you want browser notifications on your mobile device? In our case, it lets us get message notifications if someone uses the messaging feature, for one thing. For most users, it would be to 1) get notifications of new content 2) get message notifications or 3) to get group notifications if we start any groups.
