Event Description
Poulsbo, with its Norwegian heritage, has to have a lutefisk dinner. Sometimes it’s had two.
This annual dinner is at the Sons of Norway. There are four different seating times within the time frame and its, generally, a well-attended event.
You’ll also find music and performances from the Norwegian dancers at the Poulsbo Sons of Norway.
If you haven’t had Lutefisk before, and don’t know what it is: it’s dried whitefish cured in lye and is a traditional Norwegian food. My grandmother was from Norway and my dad warned me never, ever, to try the stuff. But I finally decided that, living in Poulsbo, and being of Norwegian heritage, I just had to try. For me, it was as disgusting as expected — but the other food (as well as the people) were very good! I kept getting told that lutefisk was an acquired taste, by those who enjoy it.
