About the Festival:

Macha Theatre Works is thrilled to present their first New Works Reading Festival. This event runs April 14–16, 2023 at West of Lenin in the Fremont neighborhood. This festival includes 7 new plays in 3 days by women, femme-identifying, and non-binary playwrights from across the country.

About New Work: 

Macha Theatre Works strives to support underrepresented voices to expand the theater canon at large. We believe in order to change the game at the top we need to create a content catalog of stories by women and global majority artists that is undeniable.

The Festival Schedule – 7 Plays, 3 days

Friday, April 14th, our Kick Off Event with drinks and post-play discussion!

  • 7pm: This Time, It Will Be Just For You by Maggie Lee* (Seattle)

Saturday, April 15th

  • 12pm: I will miss you when you’re gone by Jessica Moss(Toronto)
  • 3pm: Bloomer Girls by Emily Brauer Rogers* (Los Angeles)
  • 7pm: Nanay by Molly Olis Krost* (Bay Area/Seattle) +

Sunday, April 16th

  • 12pm: Gumiho by Nina Ki (Brooklyn)
  • 3pm: What to Expect When You’re Simulating by Nabra Nelson* (Seattle)
  • 7pm: Finding Neil Patrick Harris by Donna Hoke* (New York)

*Playwright will be in attendance, in person.
