Event Description
The Fremont Solstice Parade is an annual tradition that is unlike all the other Seattle parades in that it includes only the human-powered (vs. motorized floats). I’ve even see families dress up and spontaneously join in the parade. You might see some very creative and funky things in this parade.
It also generally is preceeded by the naked cyclist who are, yes, quite naked but generally covered in body paint. For me, I want to ride my bike with bike shorts, thank you!
This is part of the weekend-long Fremont Solstice Festival, which we’ll add as its own event, later.
I recommend getting down there very early to find parking, if you’re not taking public transport, and finding a place to watch. The route is described as such:
Parade kicks off at 3rd and Leary Way, continues along 36th Street, then turns right on Fremont Ave. N, taking a left on N 34th St, and finishing up at Woodland Park Ave N. just before Stone Way.
We’ve added the statue of Lenin here as the location just because it’s a well-known marker and we’ve found ourselves near it a number of times for the parade.
