Thing NW Music Festival Poster
TThe Sasquatch! music festival at the Gorge ended last year just as I was reentering my second adolescence and starting to get excited about attending music festivals and outdoor concerts.

So I was excited to hear about Thing NW — the new festival from Sasquatch! founder Adam Zacks which is coming up August 24 and 25 at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend. Music, arts, podcasts, yoga — tickets went on presale today, with regular sales starting April 26 at 9 AM. And I LOVE their poster. It will hang on my wall!

The festival features music from the likes of the Violent Femmes and De La Soul, there’s a live reading of An Officer and A Gentleman (hey, it’s Fort Worden!), Napoleon Dynamite Live! (not a play — I think it’s a showing of the movie, with a Q&A from some of the actors afterward), a luminarium from Architects of Air, which appears to be a sculpture with light and color, yoga, trail walks, and more. I got my tickets ASAP.

I jumped on the chance to get tickets before I could consider the budget. Tickets are $189.50 for a two-day pass before May 2, and increase after that. There’s also Admiral Society tickets which get you into a VIP lounge, on-site parking, etc. Kids under 13 get in free.

At this point, lodging and camping right at Fort Worden are sold out…but there’s an opportunity to purchase camping at Jefferson Park when you buy tickets.
