Sakura-Con, the Seattle anime convention (Japanese animation and comics) is the largest of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. It’s like the ComicCon for aficionados of Japanese comics and animation.
I’m featuring it here because my younger daughter is a huge anime fan, so I’ve attended this convention a number of times (and will be there again this year, most likely, as I was not on the ball and wasn’t able to score tickets for either San Diego Comic Con nor Emerald City Comic Con).
You’ll see lots of people in onesies, lots of people with blue hair. No, I generally don’t dress up and leave that to my daughter, but I will confess that once there was a large Moogle seen in a nearby bar having a raspberry cocktail… But we will talk no more of that!
Tickets are $80 at the door…less if you order in advance. It’s easier to get a discounted hotel rate if you book early through the Sakura Con Website. But, if not, we usually choose to stay at the Sheraton in Seattle as it’s right there at the convention center.
My usual activity is taking photos while I’m at the convention. Below is a small gallery of a few photos I took at conventions past (mostly at Sakura-Con)…I have many more in my catalog, perhaps I’ll add a few as I go:
