NW Folklife has happened every year since 1972. But this year, to keep everyone safe…it’s going online like so many other events.
The full lineup will be announced on May 20 and will include several channels of entertainment from performers who might have, under normal circumstances, graced the stages of the Seattle Center.
Be sure to get up and dance!
What follows below is the description from past years, I’m keeping it here in hopes we can once again get together in public for this annual festival.
Like most Seattle events, the Northwest Folklife Festival, held Memorial Day weekend at the Seattle Center, has grown considerably from its beginnings in 1972. It features over 6000 volunteer performers including musicians, dancers, theater groups and has no admission charge so everyone can attend (though, of course, food or craft vendors are not free) but you can make a donation.
There are too many individual events to list here, so please visit their website. And please also note that the schedule may be subject to change.
We have a post about this, and other, PNW Spring festival on our site here (that we try to keep updated annually as we know event dates).
