We have a couple of different types of member galleries on our website. One type is linked to your user profile and/or to groups. You can share these media to your profile, with other members, and you can always click the sharing box to share them to social media. You can also use those galleries to create groups galleries to share images, audio, or files.
This type of gallery is not that type. After you upload your image and we approve it, you may always add it to your profile by linking to it there, but the image in the gallery will open in a lightbox when clicked and not link to your user profile by default. Images you upload to galleries such as this one do not show up in your user profile media unless you also upload them there. You can also insert an image link — or a video link from YouTube. These galleries allow video as well.
However, when you upload an image, you’ll see a “Custom URL” field. By default, these galleries show the title on hover over the image and a message to click for more information. In the lightbox, you’ll see the title, followed by the caption, description and then the custom link with text about the Photographer’s link. You do not need to enter a custom URL, but we suggest it that you use it for the link to your profile page. If you’d like to link elsewhere, that’s OK as long as it’s to your photographer’s website or something that represents YOU rather than to a product, affiliate link, etc. Your name also does not show by default. We suggest that you add your name as “by Your Name” somewhere in the image caption field.
Images in these galleries are moderated, which means that we check and approve the image and its text and links before it goes “live” on the website. We ask that you only upload images appropriate to the subject of that gallery and that they be “safe for work.”
However, our moderation for these galleries, currently does not feature email notifications and there is currently no easy way for us to add them. We check for new images most weekdays, but may take longer if we’re on the go. You can check the gallery in a few days and see if we’ve approved your image.
We may share these elsewhere on our website in places different than the page you uploaded and we may choose to add tags to some images which may cause them to show in other, related, galleries, or share the galleries to social media. Or you can try to add tags to your own images by adding the tags in the Alt attribute, separated by commas. We do not sell your images and right-click protect our member galleries. If someone asks us for permission to use your image, we’ll check with you first (we do know who uploaded the image). If, for some reason, tagging an image makes it accidentally show up in a gallery on our site that has ecommerce enabled and someone tries to purchase the image, we would check with you first before any transaction could proceed and you’d get the proceeds. That is very unlikely to occur, however.
